Ready to take a deep breath after the holiday run-around?

What better way to reset after a season of indulgence then by focusing on others. For this Friday Five we’re rounding up a handful of organizations that caught our eye. These groups are out there doing good in the world and supporting causes near and dear to Amplia Group’s heart. Are you involved in any of these organizations or have a cause you think we should add to our list? Let us know about it on social.

1 )) Uprising UK

UpRising is a UK-wide youth leadership development organization that aims to open pathways to power for talented young people from diverse and under-represented backgrounds. Through funding and volunteer opportunities, the organization equips young people with the knowledge, networks, skills, and confidence they need to fulfil their leadership potential, find new opportunities, and transform the world around them through social action.

2 )) Our Bright Future

Where young people and the environment intersect, Our Bright Future is a forward-thinking, ambitious and innovative partnership led by The Wildlife Trusts. OBF brings together the youth and environmental sectors and supports young people to lead progressive change in their communities and local environment. The projects are hugely diverse and address multiple climate issues and community challenges faced by young people.

3 )) ElectHer

The U.S. isn’t the only government in need of greater representation. UK-based ElectHER engages women, helping them decide their political paths, equipping them to run for office, and enabling them to win. The group works across the political spectrum, and welcomes women from all backgrounds and beliefs, representing all parties and none. While you’re at it, check out these two organizations doing similarly important work here in U.S. Let’s go, women!

4 )) 100 Suits

When you look good, you feel good. 100 Suits understands this first-hand, which is why the New York City-based organization provides free business attire to underserved individuals in the job search process. By being able to wear appropriate attire to their interviews, these men and women are not only better equipped to achieve gainful employment and transition to mainstream society, but often develop a much-needed sense of self-esteem. Through the program, 100 Suits also provides free haircuts and wig/salon referrals.

5 )) Birthday Buds

With Christmas and Hanukah in the rearview mirror, children around the world have their sights set on the next big “holiday”— their birthdays. Birthday Buds was created in 2020 to help children from low-income families feel special and celebrated despite the challenges faced by their families and the world. The mission of Birthday Buds is to make a positive difference in the lives of children by supplying them with fun as well as essential birthday presents/supplies they would not otherwise receive, while teaching children the value of giving. Parents of kids up to 12 can sign up, and the group then matches your child(ren) with a Buddy who has a birthday close to your child’s birthday and is close in age.

Before counting down to the New Year tonight, we hope you’ll consider making “give” a theme of 2022. These organizations have certainly inspired us to.
